Protest against labour reforms in France

Nine labour unions representing 5.4 million public workers have united behind a protest called against labour reforms in France today, in what is likely to be the first joint agitation by the unions in a decade. The walkout has been called over French President Emmanuel Macron's plans to axe 120,000 jobs and reduce sick leave compensation as part of a broader strategy to lure investment and rein in spending.


SMU Retail Centre of Excellence launch

The SMU Retail Centre of Excellence, a joint initiative between the Singapore Management University, Spring Singapore and the Economic Development Board, will be launched today. It is the first sharing hub for retailers in Singapore, Asia and beyond.


Non-landed private resale data

The release today of the SRX Property non-landed private resale index for last month is expected to support recent signs that the resale market for condominiums is fast improving. Resale prices of non-landed private homes in August rose 0.7 per cent month-on-month and 3.2 per cent from a year ago. The rise was a turnaround from the 0.3 per cent decline in July, which was revised from a 0.5 per cent fall.
