Merkel hosts post-Brexit summit

Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel is hosting Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, European Council president Donald Tusk and French President Francois Hollande at a post-Brexit summit in Berlin today. Dr Merkel has said that EU member states should "calmly and prudently analyse and evaluate the situation, before making the right decisions together".

Students to work with app developer

Students from Republic Polytechnic will soon be able to work with mobile app developer LDR to develop location-based applications for tourists and locals. The polytechnic will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with LDR today, in a move to provide its students in the School of Infocomm and School of Technology for the Arts with more industry exposure.

Central bankers meet in Portugal

A three-day, high level powwow involving central bankers in Portugal is expected to take on even greater significance following Britain's shock vote to leave the European Union. Among the speakers at the European Central Bank Forum on Central Banking starting today are US Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen, ECB president Mario Draghi, People's Bank of China governor Zhou Xiaochuan and Bank of England governor Mark Carney.
