Putin's annual phone-in with Russians

Russian President Vladimir Putin holds his nationwide televised phone-in today.

This is Mr Putin's annual "direct line" with voters - a major event with questions collected through the Internet and the resulting multi-hour marathon broadcast online as well as on television.


Aquaculture conference begins

An inaugural conference on aquaculture research and training will begin today at Temasek Polytechnic.

Called AquaRealm 2017, the four-day event will look into developments in the international ornamental aquatic industry and the practical aspects of fish health.

The event will also feature competitions such as a regional guppy contest and an aquarium aquascaping challenge.


Bank of England interest rate decision

The Bank of England will release its latest interest rate decision today, following closely on the back of a similar highly anticipated announcement by the United States Federal Reserve.

The British central bank is facing pressure to raise interest rates from record-low levels on the back of mounting inflation, which surged past forecasts last month to increase at the fastest pace in almost four years.
