Merkel to defend multilateral alliances

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to participate in the three-day Munich Security Conference starting today.

Dr Merkel had said she would use her speech tomorrow at the conference to defend the idea of multilateral cooperation, after US President Donald Trump questioned international alliances and obligations, and insisted on putting "America first" in his policies.


A message of encouragement

To commemorate their 130th anniversary, Methodist Girls' School (MGS), in partnership with SingPost, will undertake their "Post-A-Blessing" project today. Students will mail handwritten postcards to their loved ones, friends or anyone they would like to encourage.


Report on Singapore's economy

The Ministry of Trade and Industry will release this morning the Economic Survey of Singapore, a report that includes assessment of the overall performance of the economy, sectoral performance, inflation, employment and productivity for the fourth quarter and the whole of last year. The release is timely as the Singapore Budget will be presented next Monday.
