FRANKFURT - Injuries have been reported following an alleged tear-gas attack at Frankfurt Airport in Germany on Monday (Sept 11).

As many as six people were injured in the attack, with many experiencing breathing difficulty and eye irritation, reported The Independent.

The incident took place near check-in counters in Terminal 1, with emergency services called to the scene at around 11am, reported The Daily Mail.

Airport police tweeted that the gas was sprayed by an "unknown person", but it was not clear if the attacker had been apprehended. The police said that investigations into the incident were ongoing.
