Russian President Vladimir Putin brought his dog Yume to an interview with Japanese journalists in Moscow on Tuesday, and the large Akita breed made sure that she and her master were well heard.

Yume was not on a leash and soon began barking loudly at the media crew.

Mr Putin was forced to use all his dog-handling skills to bring the boisterous animal under control, according to the Russian RT news website.

Yume was given to the Russian leader by Japan's Akita Prefecture in 2012.
