Russian civilians dread violence as war moves ever closer to home

For much of the Ukraine war, it was the grim fate of Ukrainian civilians to flee their homes as Russian tanks rolled over their towns and villages.

But as the war passes its half-year mark, it is increasingly the turn of Russian civilians to dread the violence approaching their homes.
