Russia could block YouTube for freezing its German channels

It vows other retaliatory acts against foreign tech giants as Germany denies any part in ban

Russia has threatened to block YouTube and take other retaliatory measures against foreign tech giants, after the US video-sharing platform blocked German-language channels of Russia's state broadcaster.

The German government has denied playing any part in YouTube's decision to freeze Russia's information platforms. "We have nothing to do with it," said Mr Steffen Seibert, the official spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
