Even by the unusual circumstances of Brexit - as the process of Britain's separation from the European Union is now universally known - the battles expected in the British Parliament today will be extraordinary.

For legislators in London will face three existential questions: either extend the Brexit negotiations (something which Prime Minister Theresa May spent years pledging would never happen); leave Europe with no deal at all; or opt to hold a referendum to ask the people of Britain whether they really are serious about leaving the EU.
