Britain's political parties have fired off their first shots in what is guaranteed to be a gruelling campaign before the general election scheduled for Dec 12.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservatives are concentrating on their promise to pull Britain out of the European Union (EU) as quickly as possible with the slogan of "Come together to get Brexit done", as he puts it.
