Hungary says migrant influx 'stops' after border shutdown

BUDAPEST (AFP) - Hungary said Monday (Oct 19) its shutdown of the border with Croatia had put a stop to the influx of migrants and refugees, with only 41 crossing into the EU member on Sunday.

"The border closure is working, it has effectively stopped illegal border-crossing. The Hungarian government is determined to keep the measures in place as long as is needed," government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs told reporters in Budapest.
