- European Union foreign ministers made history on Monday when, for the first time,

they met for their summit

not on the territory of one of their member states but in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

The gesture was designed to underline Europe’s unwavering support for Ukraine. “We are here to express our solidarity and support to the Ukrainian people,” said Mr Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief.
