LONDON - The London Bridge station was closed, with commuters being evacuated on Tuesday (Oct 18) as police investigated reports of a suspicious vehicle near the station, British newspaper The Independent reported.

The paper cited a spokesman for the Met Police as saying they were called to the scene to investigate the vehicle at about 7.50am local time.

Photos and videos uploaded on Twitter showed people gathering around near the station as it was cordoned off.

The paper said the vehicle was parked outside the Sainsbury's supermarket chain near the station.
