The British government has decided it won't appeal against a court ruling that determined that plans to build a new runway at London's Heathrow airport were illegal since they did not adequately take into account the government's own commitments to cut carbon emissions to tackle the climate crisis.

But the two private companies engaged in developing Heathrow are determined to reverse the construction ban by appealing to Britain's Supreme Court.
