Emboldened protesters in Hong Kong using riot-like tactics, say experts

Street battles in Hong Kong over the weekend between hundreds of anti-government protesters and the police suggest that some protesters have become emboldened, say security analysts, noting that the tactics deployed are increasingly aggressive.

While protesters had initially used largely defensive tactics - dousing tear gas canisters and using laser pointers to disrupt facial recognition cameras, for instance - the battles now include offensive elements.
