Cyprus ex-defence minister, 3 others guilty over blast

LARNACA, Cyprus (AFP) - Cyprus ex-defence minister Costas Papacostas and three fire chiefs were on Tuesday found guilty of negligence linked to the deaths of 13 people in a munitions dump explosion almost two years ago.

Papacostas was also found guilty of the more serious charge of manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. Ex-foreign minister Marcos Kyprianou and army deputy commander Savvas Argyrou were found not guilty on all charges.
