VIENNA, Austria (AFP) - Austria's ruling coalition of Social Democrats and conservatives won the necessary majority to continue ruling without the help of a third party on Sunday, although the far right was hot on their heels.
Chancellor Werner Faymann's SPOe won 26.7 per cent of the vote, followed by the People's Party (OeVP) at 23.6 per cent, projections by the ARGE research institute for the Austria Press Agency showed.
