Thousands of rubber ducks dive into Chicago River

Some 50,000 rubber ducks are dumped into the Chicago River for the annual Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Some 50,000 rubber ducks were dropped into the Chicago River from the Columbus Drive Bridge as part of the 11th Annual Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby on Thursday (Aug 4).

Organizers say the event benefits the Special Olympics Illinois, which includes more than 20,000 young athletes across Illinois.

Spectators had the option to adopt a duck for US$5 (S$6.71) and win prizes if their duck comes out ahead.
