PERU (REUTERS) - Peruvian authorities were called in to rescue a 4.6m anaconda in the northern city of Tarapoto.

Part of the snake's body was trapped in a 15cm-wide plastic tube.

It took four men to safely remove the snake from the waterhole and from the tube.

The snake showed no signs of injuries, other than some scratches from trying to escape.

Authorities later released the anaconda into the Huallaga River.
