French police kill 'Allahu Akbar' attacker

French police on Saturday shot dead a knife-wielding man who attacked three officers in a police station while shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("God is great").

The man wounded one officer's face at the entrance to the police station in Joue-les-Tours near the city of Tours in central France and injured two others before he was shot.

The perpetrator was a Burundi-born French national who was known to police for common crimes, a source close to the investigation told AFP.

Space station crew gets new tool - via e-mail direct to the 3D printer

There may be no corner hardware store at the International Space Station, but that doesn't mean the astronauts can't get what they need.

In a first, the space station crew was able to craft a new tool in space, using their specially designed Zero-G 3D printer and a design e-mailed from the ground.

The tool was designed and tested on the ground and then e-mailed to the printer, which spat it out in about four hours.

Model's naked parade around Melbourne being investigated by police

Police in Australia are investigating after a video of a social media personality parading naked around Melbourne's central business district was uploaded to YouTube.

The video of US national Gabi Grecko, who was sporting bunny ears, a green wig, high heels and a wedding veil, has since been taken down, according to Australia's Nine News yesterday.

The stunt was apparently carried out in collaboration with Sneaky magazine, although Nine News said it is not known yet when the footage was filmed.

Football: Messi double, Suarez hits first La Liga goal in Barca rout

Lionel Messi scored twice and Luis Suarez struck his first La Liga goal as Barcelona crushed struggling Cordoba 5-0 on Saturday to finish the year a point behind Real Madrid at the top of the table.

In form Pedro put Barca ahead after just 71 seconds, the second quickest in La Liga this season, with a clinical finish from a ball over the top of the defence by Ivan Rakitic.

The signs were ominous for Cordoba as they found themselves encamped in their own half, although Barca did not add to their lead until the start of the second half through Suarez.

Furious at leaks, Madonna releases songs early

Madonna on Saturday suddenly released six new songs months ahead of schedule, furious that early versions had leaked online in what she had described as "artistic rape."

The songs will appear on the pop icon's first album in three years, Rebel Heart, which comes out in March.

The six tracks show Madonna going further in a hip-hop direction and include a collaboration with leading female rapper Nicki Minaj.
