A rescue worker standing among the charred ruins after a huge fire destroyed timber shops in Gikomba market in Nairobi, Kenya, yesterday. The blaze broke out early in the morning and quickly spread to adjacent buildings and shops, killing at least 15 people and injuring more than 70. A fire destroyed much of Gikomba, the Kenyan capital's largest open-air market, less than a year ago, with shoddy wiring blamed for past fires.
