MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AFP, Reuters) - Boko Haram militants killed 35 people and kidnapped more than 100 women and children in an attack on the village of Gumsuri in the restive north-east, a security source and resident said on Thursday.
"After killing our youths, the insurgents have taken away our wives and daughters," said Mukhtar Buba, who fled Gumsuri to the Borno state capital Maiduguri.
News from remote parts of Nigeria that are cut off from mobile communications sometimes takes days to travel.
