A wingspan away keeps the virus at bay

Bogota has a simple message for its residents - if you would like to leave your "nest" amid Covid-19, you need to spread your "wings".

On Thursday, people dressed as hummingbirds staged a performance in San Cristobal town, in the capital of Colombia.

The act, organised by the Ministry of Culture, saw performers spreading their "wings" to demonstrate safe distancing.

Known as the "Alas de distancia" or Wings Away strategy, the performance was targeted at both residents and merchants in the town, to remind them of the importance of social distancing, wearing masks and hand hygiene, to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
