2 donkeys suspected in mauling old man to death in Hungary

BUDAPEST (AP) - The Hungarian police say they are investigating an incident in which an elderly man may have been mauled to death by two donkeys.

It happened on May 13 in the western Hungarian town of Magyarszecsod, when Mr Sandor Horvath, a 65-year-old retired firefighter, was apparently pulled off his motorcycle by the donkeys, which were kept on a lot neighbouring his small farm.

The animals likely dragged him some 50m, biting and trampling him.

The police in Vas county said on Tuesday that they were still working on the case, but had no new developments to report.

The results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death have not been released.

The donkeys are being kept under observation for another week before their fate is decided.
