LONDON (AFP) - Some 1,200 extra police officers were deployed across London on Thursday night in the wake of the brutal murder of a soldier by two suspected Islamists on the city streets, Scotland Yard said.

"We're aiming to reassure the public. The officers will be deployed at key locations including religious venues, transport hubs and busy areas," a spokesman said.
