12-year-old Russian boy stabbed in Greece treated in Germany

BERLIN (AP) - A Russian boy who suffered extensive injuries when he was stabbed during a vacation on the Greek island of Crete is being treated at a hospital in Germany.

Berlin's Charite Hospital said on Thursday that the 12-year-old had arrived overnight, and is being treated in its children's clinic. It said it could give no further information because of patient confidentiality rules.

The Russian boy was initially flown to a children's hospital in Athens for emergency surgery after the May 14 attack. Doctors in Greece have said he suffered spinal cord damage and extensive chest and leg wounds.

A young Dutch entertainer was later charged with attempted murder and theft for allegedly stabbing the child.

The boy, who was holiday with his mother, had confronted the entertainer over a theft.
