SINGAPORE - The salaries companies are paying for IT professionals in Singapore rose by 10 to 15 per cent this year with hiring strong in many areas, according to recruitment firm ZW HR Consulting.

In a report released this week, the firm said that ever-increasing requirements in the IT field have led to a case where "employers now scramble to find top talent" in the search for professionals with specific business and technical abilities.

Hiring is strong in cloud computing, mobile applications, business intelligence, data analytics, application development and cyber security, said the headhunter.

Its director for IT practice Ms Yvonne Tang said that this situation has given IT professionals a "huge advantage", with experienced workers expected to see salary hikes.

She explained: "Technology drives so many aspects of a modern business - from sales growth to productivity improvements - employers will need to consider increasing salaries to keep pace with inflation in order to retain their high-calibre workforce."

This is why 2015 should turn out to be "a reasonably good period for IT professionals" according to the firm's managing director Mr Mervin Chui.

Singapore's position as Southeast Asia's gateway to business, and growing customers' concern for data protection and regulation has also added to the demand for IT professionals, the firm said.
