SINGAPORE - Facebook users around the world were facing problems logging into the social media platform on the morning of Feb 27, according to numbers from a website that tracks online outages.

There were 15,985 reports on the global Downdetector site at 10.24am – compared with a baseline of 16 reports – with 87 per cent of affected users saying they have problems logging into the Facebook website.

There were 307 reports on the Singapore version of the Downdetector website at 10.31am, with 88 per cent of those affected also saying they have issues with the website.

“Facebook is down? What do I do at work now?” said one user on social media platform X.

Other Meta platforms such as Instagram and Whatsapp were not affected by the outage, according to Downdetector reports.

A check by The Straits Times at 10.31am on Facebook’s website showed that it did not load normally, instead showing an error message. A subsequent check at 10.44am showed that the website was working normally.
