CUPERTINO - Apple launched the third generation of its smartwatch, Apple Watch Series 3, during the special event at Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park.

It looks like its predecessor but now comes with built-in cellular. So there is no need for the smartwatch to constantly paired with the iPhone, and yet able to make calls, receive texts and screen Apple Music.

The Apple Watch Series 3 also comes with a new 70 per cent-faster dual-core processor, a new W2 wireless chip and barometric altimeter.

In addition, Apple's voice assistant Siri can now talk on Series 3, so you do not need to look at the Apple Watch screen to see what Siri is saying.

Apple Watch Series 3 will come in cellular and non-cellular version.

However, the Series 3 with built-in cellular will not be available in Singapore at launch. Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular will come to Singapore soon, according to Apple representatives.

But the non-cellular version will be available here at launch.

Pre-order starts from Sept 15, and Apple Watch Series 3 will be available from Sept 22.

At the same time, the new Apple TV 4K media streamer is also announced. It now not only supports 4K streaming, but also supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision for more accurate and vivid reproduction of 4K footages.

The Apple TV 4K will also be available from Sept 22, with pre-order starting from Sept 15.

The Apple TV 4K starts at $268 for 32GB or $298 for 64GB, while the previous Apple TV (4th generation) 32GB at $228.
