Public urged to report illegal in-facing cams

LTA drawing up rules for installation of such cameras; cabbies warned not to install them without approval

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is urging the public to report illegal installations of passenger-facing cameras in taxis and private-hire cars. It is currently drawing up rules that govern such installations, and will be releasing them only later.

The move comes after the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) laid out its own guidelines for transport service providers on Monday, sparking a backlash from consumers.
