It takes quite a bit to scare me, having been a seasoned gamer most of my life. But there was a moment of genuine fear that shot through me when a hooded, scythe-wielding zombie advanced slowly but menacingly towards me.

He was not real and I was in no immediate danger, but being in virtual reality (VR) adds a sense of realism and immersion to a game.
