Google's acquisition of smart glasses specialist North and rumours of Apple creating its own pair are signs that smart glasses could be an exciting category in consumer technology in the future

Last week, Google announced it had acquired North, an eight-year-old Canadian company which specialises in making smart glasses.

Smart glasses are typically chunky and in your face. But last year, North launched Focals, a pair of smart glasses that looks like normal glasses.
