Singapore's four medallists at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Nanjing this August received sports scholarships from NTUC FairPrice Foundation on Friday afternoon for their feats.

Sailors Bernie Chin and Samantha Yom, the Republic's first YOG gold-medallists, each received a cash scholarship worth $50,000 for emerging tops in the men's and women's Byte CII events. Shooter Martina Lindsay Veloso was awarded $25,000 for her silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle, while Teh Xiu Yi, who won a team silver in the mixed international 10m air pistol event, will get $20,000.

The scholarship is sponsored by NTUC FairPrice Foundation, and can be used for the athletes' school or tuition fees, purchase of training and competition equipment, as well as costs such as travel expenses to training camps, competitions, or coaching fees.

A total of 18 athletes represented Singapore at the Nanijng Games across eight sports.
