They had been travelling, conquering the waves in the hope of qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics next year. Both even took a year off school to chase their dream.

But, despite help from professionals, sailor Yukie Yokoyama could not conquer her inner demons, which surfaced after a near-death experience last year.
