SINGAPORE - World No. 1 Angelique Kerber and No. 8 Cibulkova will face each other in the finals of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global on Sunday (Oct 30) in a rematch of their first Red Group clash.

Debutante Cibulkova booked her spot in the final with a 1-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 win over Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova, who was playing in the season-ending tournament for the first time since 2009.

Clean shots from the Russian saw her dominate the set, winning six games in a row. Cibulkova raised her level of play in the second set, blasting 14 winners to overpower Kuznetsova and take the set.

The Slovak got the early break to lead 2-0 in the final set, but Kuznetsova responded with two breaks of serve to go up 4-2. Gutsy play from Cibulkova, including two consecutive forehand inside-out winners, levelled the score. There was no turning back for the 27-year-old, as she continued to dictate play and win the match after a Kuznetsova volley went out.

Kerber, the world No. 1, had an easier time, rolling over defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2, 6-1 in 1hr 15min to reach the final of the season-ending event for the first time.

This is Kerber's best run at the WTA Finals so far, having never progressed out of the group stage in three previous appearances (2012, 2013, 2015).
