SINGAPORE - The 2015 edition of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global will see the year's top performers battle for the Billie Jean King Trophy, including a first-time meeting between some of the players.

Top seed Simona Halep, the world No. 2 from Romania, was drawn in the Red Group with world No. 3 Maria Sharapova of Russia, Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland and reigning US Open champion Flavia Pennetta of Italy.

Second seed Garbine Muguruza of Spain, Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, Angelique Kerber of Germany and Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic were drawn in the White Group.

The draw means there will be a first-time clash between Muguruza and Kvitova, the 2011 winner of the prestigious year-ender.

In the doubles event, Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza were drawn with Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic, Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears and Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova, second seeds in the doubles event, are in the White Group together with the sister duo of Chan Yung-jan and Chan Hao-ching, Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik and Muguruza and Carla Suarez-Navarro.

Held at the Marina Bay Sands, the players put aside their rackets and athletic wear for dresses, enthralling a crowd that had waited more than an hour to catch a glimpse of the stars.

Matches kick off on Sunday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, while tournaments such as the Legends Classic and Rising Stars Invitational will run alongside the 10-day event.
