Ukrainian 12th seed Marta Kostyuk fought back from a first-set stumble to beat Russian opponent Anna Blinkova 6-7(5) 6-3 6-3.
1412 EALA DEFEATS SERENA'S CONQUEROR JOINT
Filipino 29th seed Alexandra Eala ousted Australia's Maya Joint — who ended Serena Williams's singles comeback in the last round — in a 3-6 6-2 6-0 victory. The 21-year-old will face defending champion Iga Swiatek next.
1347 SWIATEK BEATS PLISKOVA
Defending champion Iga Swiatek dominated 2021 finalist Karolina Pliskova for a 6-1 6-3 victory.
1342 STRUFF BATTLES PAST NAKASHIMA
Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, ranked 74th in the world, edged American 28th seed Brandon Nakashima 4-6 7-6(6) 7-6(5) 6-7(6) 7-6(10-7) in a battle that lasted four hours and 21 minutes.
Struff faces Russian eighth seed Daniil Medvedev in the third round.
1338 KEYS BEATS SWAN
Former Australian Open champion Madison Keys beat British wildcard Katie Swan 6-1 6-4 to reach the third round.
1224 SAMSONOVA DEFEATS SHNAIDER
Last year's quarter-finalist Liudmila Samsonova, ranked 41st in the world, beat 15th seed Diana Shnaider 6-4 4-6 6-2.
Samsonova will face 21st seed Marie Bouzkova in the third round.
1214 FRITZ FIRES PAST KYPSON
Last year's semi-finalist Taylor Fritz, the sixth seed, beat American compatriot Patrick Kypson 6-2 6-2 7-5.
