1742 BADOSA OVERCOMES RUSE
Spanish 26th seed Paula Badosa came from a set down to win 4-6 6-1 7-6(8) against Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse and advances to the fourth round of the U.S. Open for the first time in her career.
1632 ZHENG ROUTS NIEMEIER
Seventh seed Zheng Qinwen of China beat German Jule Niemeier 6-2 6-1 to reach the fourth round.
"Finally I have won a match in two sets, I was focused since the beginning," the 2024 Olympic champion and Australian Open finalist said after the match.
"It has not been easy for me here right after the Olympic Games. I don't know if they will put me in Granstand again, I hope not. I lost against Jule in midnight in 2022 US Open third round. I am glad I am the winner today and I don't have to cry."
