Numbers tell incomplete truths. Numbers will tell you Ons Jabeur is 25, hit 29 winners, is 1.67m and served on average 12kmh slower than Wang Qiang. But numbers won't tell you about the underdog Tunisian's nonchalant walk, slippery drop shots and shotmaking cool as she won 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 yesterday while hitting winners as casually as Wonder Woman practising some lasso work.

In the interview room later, she grinned and said: "I like to play differently than the other girls. Sometimes I have a lot of choices that I don't know what to do at the end. But I'm happy that it came. I knew it was going to come one day."
