The Musafir.com UAE Royals beat the Manila Mavericks 26-21 on Wednesday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, leapfrogging the Mavericks on the Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League standings.
The Royals are now in second place with 15 points, while the Mavericks are third with 13 points. The Micromax Indian Aces are still tops on 16 points despite having yet to play home side DBS Singapore Slammers.
In the first match of the day, Australian Mark Philippoussis edged out Goran Ivanisevic 6-5 to win the men's legends singles match.
Croatian Marin Cilic leveled the score by beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the men's singles 6-5. But Tsonga, who has forged a potent partnership with Treat Huey in the men's doubles, later beat Marin Cilic and Nenad Zimonjic 6-4.
Said Tsonga: "Treat's a very good partner, he's been playing unbelievable since the start of the competition and it's a real pelasure for me to partner him. Last week we lost to the same team, so I think we got our revenge today. I'm sure there's another match, so we'll see who will win that one."
In the mixed doubles, Zimonjic partnered Kristina Mladenovic to thrash Kirsten Flipkens and Daniel Nestor 6-1.
Mladenovic then beat Flipkens 6-4 in the women's singles matchup.
