Philippine MMA star to make UFC debut here

Filipino featherweight Rolando "The Incredible" Dy will make his UFC debut against veteran featherweight Alex "Bruce Leeroy" Caceres at Fight Night Singapore, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced yesterday.

The inclusion of the highly-rated Filipino MMA star comes after Wang Guan pulled out due to injury.

Dy will be South-east Asia's sole representative at the tournament on June 17. Held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the first time, the main event sees Holly Holm take on Bethe Correia.

S'pore darts pair stun No. 1 Scots at World Cup

Singapore's Paul Lim and Harith Lim created one of the biggest upsets in the World Cup of Darts when they shocked top-seeded Scots Gary Anderson and Peter Wright 5-2 in the opening night in Frankfurt on Thursday.

The pair will take on Spain, who beat Japan 5-3, in today's second round.

Wales will now fancy their chances of reaching the final from the top half of the draw, with second seeds and four-time champions England the likely opponents.

SYDNEY • Australian tennis great Margaret Court yesterday claimed an American gay conspiracy was behind calls to strip her name from one of the Australian Open stadiums, after a furore over her views on homosexuality.

She also hit back at Czech-American Martina Navratilova, who lashed out at the 74-year-old church pastor's "sick and dangerous" comments on gays in tennis and transgender children.
