A Porsche charity event in aid of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) had an extra touch of glamour added to it on Thursday night, when tennis superstar Maria Sharapova presented a cheque for $50,000 to ST editor at large, Han Fook Kwang.

The 27-year-old Russian, a brand ambassador for the German automobile manufacturer, helped auction off an autographed racket and a giant tennis ball. She also played mini tennis with some children at the private event, and posed for photos with the guests.

The amount raised was a combination of the auctioned items, as well as contributions from Eurokars Group executive chairman Karsono Kwee and customers.

Said Ong Lay Ling, executive director of Eurokars Group: "Stuttgart Auto has a longstanding relationship with SPMF. COntributing to our community is very much a part of our corporate mission and we have over the years, donated regularly to this fund."
