The arena is a stage, the athlete is an actor, the shots are her lines, drama is her everyday life. She wants you to see her skill, note her resolve, even as she glitters in the spotlight. This is a noble life and a narcissistic one.

Some athletes may not admit to enjoying tennis' theatre, but Daria Kasatkina is young, hopeful, defiant and allergic to coyness. To be at the emotional centre of a crowded arena's attention is essential to who she is.
