A sporting Sunday of heartbreak and heroics from cricket World Cup to Wimbledon

"Kids, don't take up sport. Take up baking or something. Die at 60 really fat and happy."

This is the wry tweet from Jimmy Neesham, New Zealand cricketer, whose team lost agonisingly to England in the World Cup final in London. Across town, maybe Roger Federer, who lost 7-6 (7-5), 1- 6, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 13-12 (7-3) at Wimbledon, shook his head in rueful agreement.
