PARIS (AFP) - Rafael Nadal reached the last 16 of the French Open on Saturday with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-4 win over Fabio Fognini of Italy.

The defending champion and third seed will next play Japan's Kei Nishikori for a place in the quarter-finals.
