Lewis Hamilton has a contract with Mercedes that gives him a two-in-one chance of winning any race - and a contract with destiny which this weekend, or some time next month, will put him level on the podium of history with Argentinian Juan Manuel Fangio.

It is 60 years since Fangio retired a year after winning his fifth Formula One world championship. Tomorrow in Mexico, Hamilton doesn't even have to win the race to earn his fifth title. He could come in seventh, and be crowned champion.
