Paddler Pang Xuejie steps up as a leader

Eight years ago, a fresh-faced 17-year-old Pang Xuejie was part of the national men's table tennis team who won two golds and two silvers at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. Singapore's paddlers finished top overall with six golds, five silvers and a bronze.

While he came home with a gold medal in the team event, Pang played just one of 19 matches in total, as seniors such as Gao Ning, Cai Xiaoli, Yang Zi and Ma Liang took on the rest of the matches.
