SINGAPORE - National paddler Feng Tianwei won the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Slovenia Open on Sunday night for her first title in almost two years.
She beat South Korean Jeon Ji Hee 11-9, 8-11, 10-12, 11-3, 11-5, 11-8. The competition, held in Otocec, is a Challenge-level event, the lowest on the ITTF's three-tier professional circuit.
Still, it ends a title drought on Tour for Feng, whose last triumph came at the 2014 Japan Open on June 22 that year. The Singaporean did not win any events on the professional circuit last year, although she did beat current world No. 1 Liu Shiwen to lift her first continental title at the Asian Cup. Feng now has nine Tour titles.
Feng beat three Japanese players in succession before reaching the final, including a victory over veteran and world No. 7 Ai Fukuhara in the semi-final, which took place on Sunday morning.
