Swimming: Sweden's Sjoestroem claims world fly gold double

KAZAN, Russia (AFP) - Sweden's Sarah Sjoestroem won the women's 50m butterfly final at the world swimming championships on Saturday, to complete the double having already won the 100m title.

She clocked 24.96sec in the 200m final, to set a new championship record, with Denmark's Jeanette Ottesen taking silver at 0.38sec back.

China's Lu Ying swam a new Asian record of 25.37sec to claim bronze at 0.41 behind.

The 21-year-old Swede has now won three medals in Kazan, having also collected a silver in the 100m freestyle, and twice broke the 100m butterfly record en route to winning the final last Monday.
