Swimming: Missy Franklin wins 100m backstroke world gold; misses world record

BARCELONA (AFP) - Teenage swimming star Missy Franklin won the women's 100m backstroke gold at the swimming world championships on Tuesday with Australia's Emily Seebohm second and Japan's Aya Terakawa third.

Franklin of the USA collected her second gold in Barcelona when she clocked 58.42secs, just missing out on the four-year-old world record, with Seebohm back at 0.64 and Terekawa touched the wall 0.81 behind.
